Travel Pillow - For those always on the move....

For those that like to get a good rest during there travels or simply want to sit comfortably during a long journey then a travel pillow id the solution.

No matter what brand or type of travel pillow you choose for your needs you must remember that a good pillow must provide the right support for your neck and head.  You are probably more than aware of the frequent aches and pains that can occur whilst trying to sleep on a coach or plane for example, constantly moving to get comfortable yet no matter what you do you just can't seem to get comfortable!

The 4 necessary points to consider

Firmness

You want a pillow that has the right firmness in terms of support.  A pillow that is too soft will lead to neck and shoulder problems whilst a pillow to firm will be totally uncomfortable.  On the market you will come across an assortment of pillow types from memory foam types, bean filled, inflatable and standard polyester filled products.  For the best support possible I recommend checking out the memory foam equivalents as well as the inflatable travel pillows widely available.

Contoured shaped or standard?

Contoured pillows insure the right pressure points are supported eliminating stiffness and maximising comfort.  Typically one of the most popular types is the U shaped pillow which not only offers excellent support for the neck but also allows you to rest your head to one side without getting neck cramp and pain.  As mentioned previously a memory foam pillow is the best contoured pillow you can get for your money, moulding to the shape of your neck and head meaning you can rest comfortably on long journeys.

Easy to wash and maintain?

For a good travel down pillow it's not cheap.  knowing this is important to invest in a product that is long lasting and can easily be maintained.  Mostly all pillows on the market come with machine washable covers that can easily be replaced when need be.  Cheaper models are available for limited use although I recommend paying that little extra to maximise your investment.
